Teaser Tuesday #48

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme is hosted by Ambrosia from The Purple Booker.

1. Grab your current read

2. Open to a random page

3. Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page. BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

4. Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I have been reading a collection of essays on Weimar Cinema movies for the past few months for one of my classes, and this week I have a really good quote to share.

The book is called Weimar Cinema: An essential guide to classical films of the era  by Noah Isenberg.

My quote:

“Homophobia was a crucial aspect of facism, and it remains one of the most important weapons of some of the most patriarchal, reactionary, oppressive and ultimately antidemocratic forces at work today. Its defeat in this film, however momentary, is one that should cheer us all.”

The film mentioned is Girls in uniforms (1931) and it’s available on YouTube.

  1. As a lover of films and exploring film genres, this book sounds very appealing. While I’m sworn not to add anything new to my TBR list until I’ve read at least 15 books, I’m going to break my rule for this one. Thanks for sharing — I’ve not heard about it before. Here’s the link to my intro/teaser for today: http://wp.me/p4DMf0-1rl
