I did some kind of TBR last week, and I was full set on respecting it, except maybe for some books that I would pick up at work. As usual, things went differently and I started reading something else. But in my defense, this one ALSO had been on my TBR for quite some time…

As I get this TT ready, I am currently reading City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab, and I am really enjoying it. It is a middle grade ghost story set in Edinburgh, following Cassidy and her best friend Jacob, who just so happens to be a ghost. As usual, Victoria Schwab’s writing is amazing!

For this week, I decided to pick up two different quotes because I loved them both:

I fell upon a great quote while reading and decided it was a great opportunity to share a Teaser Tuesday this week, especially since I haven’t posted much this month. The book I’m currently reading is There’s Someone Inside Your House, Stephanie Perkins’ crime novel that was published in 2017. The French translation was just released and I stumbled upon it at work which reminded me of how much I wanted to read it.

Here’s the quote, it’s from chapter 9, and apparently on p.103 of the original edition:

“A real dead body looked different from the ones on television or in the movies. There was nothing artful about it. Nothing positioned.”

I have been reading a collection of essays on Weimar Cinema movies for the past few months for one of my classes, and this week I have a really good quote to share.

The book is called Weimar Cinema: An essential guide to classical films of the era  by Noah Isenberg.

My quote:

I discovered this weekly meme about a year ago (I remember it was at the beginning of January) and since then I have been participating almost every week… And for now I plan on doing the same, at least for a while!

I started listening to the audiobook for A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens last week, because I had never read this book, and it was free on Audible (it still is, if you’re interested, and I’m not sure for how long but go check it out if you want!). I didn’t really know what to expect, but so far I enjoy it. I read Great Expectations last year for college and didn’t really like it, but for now, I enjoy this one better. And it also keeps reminding me of the Doctor Who episode with Dickens… Anyway.

This week I am (among others) listening to the audiobook for Me & Earl & the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews. The book was released in 2012 and I kind of feel like I am the last person in the book community to read it, but finally, here I am.
